2023 - Let Compassion Be our Compass

#GivingTuesday – invest in kindness

Date

“Compassion impels us to work tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of our fellow creatures, to dethrone ourselves from the centre of our world and put another there, and to honour the inviolable sanctity of every single human being, treating everybody, without exception, with absolute justice, equity and respect.” (The Charter for Compassion) If you’ve never heard of Giving Tuesday, this is what it’s all about.

Karen Armstrong gave a TED Talk in 2008 to help shed light on our need to be more compassionate. Atlanta was one of 30 cities to sign on to the charter and Kasim Reed signed the confirmation.

Please give however much you can. These are three action points that Compassion ATL proposed for the City of Atlanta…2017 Year-End Triptych

From Compassionate ATL’s press release on launching in 2014:

1. Work with neighbors in their cities to invite their municipal government to endorse the Charter for Compassion and become Compassionate Cities or,

2. Encourage businesses, schools and other organizations of which they are a part to become Charter Partners or,

3. Host small Community Conversations with neighbors, friends or colleagues to raise awareness about the benefits of compassionate action.

Giving Tuesday is a day where people can give to nonprofits and feel great about it knowing it’s going somewhere like Compassionate Atlanta and their charter partners that I listed below. I hope that you can spare a little change or you can spend however you want to spend. You can give a certain amount that’s up to you and how you want to give. That’s just some of what your money can go to.

Donate.
