Lessons from Alexa. Do you have one of the smart speakers that you can talk to and they’ll play music and tell you the weather? I have one, Alexa. The other day I asked her something simple and this was her response, “I’m sorry I’m having trouble understanding right now. Please try again later.” At first I laughed since she’s a computer and I didn’t know why she was having trouble understanding. And then I thought about her response and wondered if we as humans could use the same response, when appropriate?
I think more often than not, we respond or get upset when we just need to say, we’re having trouble understanding can we try this again later. One thing that I know helps me understand different perspectives is stepping outside my box, my comfort zone, my bubble….and listening to others. It helps me with this “Can we try again later?” idea.
So, with this in mind, I invite you to step out of your box and come and hear a diverse group of individualsshare their stories. Theatrical Outfit-October 16th, 7:30 pm. Let’s listen together. Alexa – add this to my calendar.
